Welcome to The Wandering Homesteader!

Hi friends!

Welcome to The Wandering Homesteader written and dreamed up by me,

Sara Sanderson. I can't begin to express how excited and grateful I am to have you join this journey from the very beginning! From a young age all I wanted was to grow up, get married, and be a momma. My mom was home quite a bit with a flexible work schedule when I was young and she was always involved with everything we did from school to sports to after school snacks and having friends over. Her whole life, or so it seemed to my brother and me, was loving us! We were and are so blessed to have her as a momma and I've always wanted to grow up to be just like her.

Instead of growing up, planting roots right away, settling down, all those things I thought for sure would be how my life would turn out, God has taken me on an amazing journey travelling all over the country, riding horses, moving to two new states, and meeting some incredible people along the way. My journey has often times been full of heartache and disappointment, mostly brought on by my stubbornness and unwillingness to yield to God's will, but through it all I have seen His glory and goodness in my life and it has shone through in the light of the people my path has crossed with.

Just recently, I've moved into a little, big city, went to work in an office, and sold my horses and trailers. While I never fathomed I'd step away from my dreams in that matter, the Lord's hand has clearly been on my life. I realized one day while I was stuck home due to the corona virus that homesteading was so much more than having to be married and have kids, it's a posture of your heart towards the Lord. Homesteading is planting your roots where God has led you and leaning into Him to thrive no matter the circumstances.

The Wandering Homesteader began as a fulfillment of a dream I've always had to write a blog and as an outlet for me creatively as I came off a pretty dark season in my life. As He often does, the minute I turned The Wandering Homesteader over to the Lord, He blessed it and turned it into something so much greater! Join me on the journey to hear some of my stories of the Lord working in my life, and more importantly to hear the stories of some amazing women of the West!

Saddle up and join me on this journey!

xo,

Sara
